Zscaler SASE Example
Zscaler Interview Project
“In preparation for an interview with Zscaler (July 2024), I developed a wide-area SASE architecture that tied together multiple U.S. sites using a combination of SD-WAN and Dark Fiber as the WAN backbone. My design accounted for routing diversity (OSPF, BGP, and static routing where appropriate), integrated Zscaler’s distributed cloud POPs for optimal traffic steering, and outlined resiliency options for branch, campus, and datacenter connectivity. While the drawing hasn’t been formally validated by Zscaler, it represents an accurate, near-production-level design aligned with best practices.
Designed a Wide Area SASE solution as part of a Zscaler interview exercise, connecting U.S. branch and datacenter locations via SD-WAN and Dark Fiber.
Integrated Zscaler cloud POPs, optimized routing protocols (BGP/OSPF), and provided resiliency options across multiple sites.
Delivered a detailed architecture diagram demonstrating end-to-end traffic flow, security policy enforcement, and cloud edge integration.
Conclusion.
While I worked very hard on the research for this drawing and a few other things for this role, I ultimately was not offered the role with Zscaler, but that is okay. They will have more open roles that I can fill.
